*VIDEO* Lesli Margherita Talks Dames at Sea, Matilda, Giving up Robert Pattinson and MORE!10/10/2015 Broadway fans have always had the luxury of popping in their favorite cast recording to a cassette player, record player, CD player, or just a click away from downloading it on ITunes, that’s if the said cast album even exists. It’s a guessing game for fans when a show first opens on Broadway regarding the producing of a cast album. Of course every fan wishes and prays for the preservation of music from each show open on Broadway in the form of a cast album. What if the show opens and then closes before you had the chance to see it? That was my case. Doctor Zhivago: A New Musical, began previews at The Broadway Theater on March 27, 2015, opening April 21, 2015, and closing far too soon on May 10, 2015. I was heartbroken when I read the news on May 9, that it would be closing the following day. Thanks to B-roll videos from websites such as Broadway.com, we got to preview small clips of this beautiful piece of theatre, but that was all. Luckily, Broadway Records came and rescued the fans who wanted to either relive or experience for the first time, the sounds of Doctor Zhivago on Broadway. Recorded at the Manhattan Center Studios in the Grand Ballroom, where the orchestra and cast are placed in the same room. The cd features the original cast, headed by Tam Mutu (Yurri), Kelli Barrett (Lara), Lora Lee Gayer (Tonia), Paul Alexander Nolan Streinikov), and Tom Hewitt (Komarovsky), with orchestrations by Lucy Simon, and lyrics by Michael Korie and Amy Powers. The sound of the album transcends your regular cast recording, and takes you on the journey of these characters, just as if you were watching it in The Broadway Theatre. These songs go from slight beats of music to strong orchestrations that send chills throughout your entire body. The cast of Doctor Zhivago is undeniably talented their voices mesh together to create prevailing melodies. There is a song on this cast album that everyone can relate to, whether it be falling in or out of love, feeling lonely, or powerful. Doctor Zhivago: A New Musical is based on the respected novel by Boris Pasternak. To purchase the cast album visit http://www.broadwayrecords.com/cds/doctorzhivago or ITunes.
